RBNY and NEW ENGLAND TIED! (am I late on this?)

By: Dave Martinez | September 25th, 2007

Since this was already 3 days ago, here are just some late thoughts from your fractured fingered blogging wonder kind :

CLAUDIO REYNA WAS AWESOME!!!!

He starts off the game with a couple of strike attempts, gets blocked, yet he continues to push to hit Dane Richards with an amazing feed (which eventually gets stuffed). He then fed Doe when we were a goal back, on a beautiful cross which Doe shanked ugly. He was stealing key New England passes, gave breathing room for Vide and the Defense to take over . . . definitely his best game to date, and one in a long string of excellent performances.

Captain America is back.

THE TAYLOR TWELLMAN GOALS

Goal #1 - Set piece. Twellman knew Stammy was gonna be on him like butter, so what does he do? He takes a few steps back right before the kick, which creates a Joe Vide Pick, which he runs through, Vide and Stammy run into each other, Twellman has the open space and the notch. I cant blame something that beautifully done on anyone. Just another Twellman massacre.

Goal #2 - Beautiful. What can I say. I hate giving credit where its due when it comes to our opposition, but man, this guy deserves it.

THE ENIGMA - FRANCIS DOE

The way Doe started off the game, I am sure RBNY nation were kicking themselves saying NOT AGAIN.

He hogged the ball early, didnt look for the pass, took wild shots, and later on, choked on some excellent chances.

Then it happened . . . . an EXPLOSIVE goal off of a perfect Richards service, beating Jay Heaps, and leaving him looking like a cow pile.

And how does he follow it up? On a beautiful serve to Angel for goal #2.

Like I said - The Enigma, Francis Doe. I cant wait to see what exactly we have here with Francis. He can be lethal, or a major dextriment. We shall see.

PHYSICAL PLAY ALL DAY

This was probably my favorite aspect of this particular game. Vide and Dorman going at it, Larentowitcz v. Angel, Dema, Vide and the rest . . . . and to watch my man DEMA JAP JEFF ALPHABET WAS BEAUTIFUL. Angel has alot of fire in his play. Him uptop, Dema in the middle, you have the right “wrong” attitude that this team needs to intimidate its opponents.

Man Dema makes a difference dont he . . . . ?

JEFF PARKE

You never mention the reliable guys until they mess up . . . . and wow, did Parke ever shank not one, but two quality headers. Shocking stuff. I cant say more really, cuz lets face it - besides Mendes - Parke has been the steadiest man on our backline.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

OVERALL

A great game played by our boys, with a few mistakes that ruined it all.

STAR OF THE GAME: FRANCIS DOE.
GOAT OF THE GAME: JEFF PARKE
PLAY OF THE GAME: Doe feeds Angel for Goal #2!

PS:

The finger is better.

PPS:

Expect an interview with SETH STAMMLER going up soon, as well as the review for FIFA 08 for EA Sports . . . .

    welcome back,
I just wtched the game tonight and - besides the goal fest vs the Galaxy - I think this was the most exciting game of the season.

Yes, Cap Amer is back alright.

I just wonder, can he continue? Can he do it with Mathis back?

Also can we run a triagle offense? by this I mean 1,2,3,4!

    Angel
    Doe Altidore
    Renya Vide Richards
Parke Stammler Leitch Van den Bergh

    Am i insane?

I know this leaves Mathis and Demo out but they can sub in if needed. I personally think this is our strongest club.

Though I could be convinced to bring Doe off the bench in favor of Mathis when Altidore is 100%

Or does Leitch get the bench in favor of a 1-2-4-3 setup including Mathis?
