REAL (and ATLETICO) MADRID WANT OUR JOZY! (UPDATED)

By: Dave Martinez | November 16th, 2007

WHAT A WAY TO MAKE A FREE AGENT ENTRANCE!

AS.com, the Spanish News Daily, is reporting Real Madrids interest in Jozy Altidore.

And its front page news.

The Jozy Bandwagon starts off with interest from Real Madrid. Word is that Madrid has been scouting Jozy, and the news just never made it out. Amazing.

I was expecting some smaller club interest, due to what I believe is an American biased across the world, but man, was I proven wrong. The big guns appeared right away for this can’t mis prospect.

If Jozy takes this on, god bless em. We will miss him, but he will make it all up on the MNT level. This offseason has been full of great surprises so far. Lets hope the good news continues to roll.

EDIT:

Setanta Sports is reporting interest from Real Madrid as well, further cementing this rumor. Sky Sports, on the other hand, is reporting interest from Atletico Madrid, taking it a step further, saying there is actually a bid package in the works.

Either way, Jozy will play with my Argentine country men, so he will soak up their knowledge and be an unstoppable force come the World Cup.

Or are my aspirations too high?

Just FYI, Dave, As and Marca both make up a whoooooole lot of stuff. I’m not saying it’s not true, just that several dozen grains of salt might be in order. (:

Well, understandable, just like the other Euro rags, but its really no matter - even if a ripple like this starts off over seas, its my hope it starts a tidal wave effect to the hard news. Who knows.

Im more excited to see him get overseas attention of any sort. But duely noted Martha.

Irrelevant, but there’s a tiny chance MLS might be seeing Thierry Henry sooner than expected. Grains of salt, etc. But I’d be surprised to see him stay with Barca beyond the end of the 08-09 season.

Henry sounds like a totaly whiner - didn’t he say he wanted to get away from his wife so badly, he had to leave the entire country?

Anyways, hope this Altidore rumor turns out to be true. Yay!

Hey everyone. The Henry rumor lives! Thanks for the link Laurie . . . makes an otherwise depressing season more bearable.

And I hope the Jozy rumor is true also.

    USMNT love > RBNY. Sorry.

    Oh, completely disagree.
    Metro over country, any day.
But I’m definitely in the minority on that one, which is strange when compared with the rest of the world.

I do wish Jozy would go to Barca over Madrid. However, I’d prefer him la Liga before the EPL. Far too many of our lads are getting cheap shotted over there with statistically far fewer ref blows……..Mad dogs and Englishmen….. I’d rather have him get him technically settled in Spain ( we already know he can hang with any Engish roughian). GO JOZY! GO USA!
