Thierry Henry Signing Creates Worldwide Multimedia Tidal Wave

Who thought we would see the day where a Red Bulls player trends #1 in New York, and top 5 Worldwide on twitter?

Well, it’s happening.

Without a press conference or a formal announcement, viral media has provided an excellent outlet for Thierry Henry’s long awaited arrival. As we reported earlier, a text message and the back cover of the New York Times had started the days buzz. Blogs and message boards have been bombarded by French, Arsenal, Barcelona and Red Bull fans alike, all abuzz over the big news. And now, even mainstream media sources have begun to get in on the act, with nearly 900 stories published worldwide, and counting.

Staying ahead of the curve, Red Bulls Reader made sure to give the fans a taste of the action after their long wait. The man himself spoke about his role on the Red Bull’s, thanks to a video posted on the clubs official site and blog:

And now, the obligatory welcome to the United States for any star athlete has occurred; Henry is booked for his first Late Night appearance . . .

. . . it almost seems surreal.

Red Bulls Viral Media Blitz Ahead Of Thierry Henry Announcement

Red Bull Marketing has gone Viral.

With the attention of the local media focused on a basketball player who never intended to call New York home, the Red Bulls have begun letting the cat out of the bag, slowly, on their French surprise.

Last week, they released the first of two “Preparing for his Arrival” videos, which has accumulated near 13,000 hits on YouTube to date. They followed that product up with the above video, which is teasing an apparent #14 jersey in the locker room area.

Along with their video productions, the Twitter Team has gotten involved in the fun as well:

And if that’s not all, look at what the New York Red Bulls found etched on the ground at the Grove street PATH station?

Wondering what “taureaux rouges” means? It’s Red Bulls in French.

Next week is going to be a LOT of fun.
