2 and 0, Baby!, Or: Maybe We Should Just Stop Now.

Wor JozyRBNY moved their unbeaten pre-season run to two whole games yesterday, with a 3-1 win over the KC Wizards. Though the Wiz were older than the Red Bulls’ previous victims they, too, crumbled before the awesome power of rookie Dane Richards. Well, they gave up a goal to him, at least. Also scoring for RBNY were Dave van den Bergh (who, like Richards, also got one against the U-17s) and Peter Philipakos, who put away a penalty he won and has made an awfully good start on trying to convince the club to sign his ass.

Reports from the game indicate the Red Bulls dominated the starter-heavy first half (full line-ups are after the jump, and there are some great photos here), which is good news indeed. Not surprisingly, Reyna is already playing a level above everyone around him, and Marvell Wynne — who apparently is looking phenomenal — even assisted from the touchline (!) on van den Bergh’s goal. Right: I say we pack it in right now while everyone is healthy and call ourselves champs. Hell, we’re scoring goals and haven’t lost, right? I don’t know about you, but I’m plenty satisfied with the season so far.

Since that pesky Bruce Arena probably won’t listen to me, though, it’s likely the team will face DC in about an hour, so please send any and all nasty thoughts about the Scum towards Bradenton.

Meh, even the blind squirrel gets a nut on occasion… Regardless, I will agree to eat a bagel (despite not being a mayor) today if we go double or nothing for the regular season clash between KC and RBNY: loser creates the post “Why Team X is better than my team.” on theOffside or something like that.

Ooh! Ooh! The LA Galaxy also wants in on this bet! (Unless you’re, y’know, scared of the Beckham-Donovan combination. If Beckham ever makes it over.)

Ok, I’m in! Fair warning, though — on the off-chance the Wiz beat us, my post is going to be all about Jackie Jewsbury.

Martha: Fair enough. I would plan what my post should be about, but it’s doubtful it would ever make it to print.

Laurie: I accept your bet as well. And considering the Galaxy will have to descend into the Cauldron of Arrowhead stadium, I think you should already be working on your “Jimmy Conrad (NOT Landon Donovan) is the marquee player of Team USA” post.

Oh, I meant to come back and reply to Laurie, too — I’m in just because I figure, either way, someone will write something nasty about Landon.

And Michael, you just keep telling yourself it won’t happen. Then the day will come, and you’ll find yourself with nothing to do but type “JozyJozyJozy” several thousand times.

Arrowhead Stadium? Is that where my Broncos played your Chiefs in something like -30 degree weather?

It’s how many years later and I STILL don’t have feeling in my fingers!

Arrowhead Stadium is indeed where your Broncos played the Chiefs, but don’t call them mine… I am (sadly enough) a Buffalo Bills fan. Perhaps it’s the cold New England winters that drive me to cheer for teams with a knack for falling just short.
