20 Games To Forget; Recapping The Record

By: Dave Martinez | June 16th, 2009

Do you remember the game last year where Juan Pablo Angel and Danleigh Borman scored their first goals of the season? Well, it was against Los Angeles in the city of Angels, and it resulted in a 2-1 win over the Galaxy.

That was the teams very last win on the road.

Here is a look back at the 20 games that have cemented their way into the MLS record books:

DYNAMO 1 – RED BULLS 0 – 5/31/08

This was the tame loss the Bulls endured at the hands of Houston last season, before they took it to the orange the rest of the way. JPA was out with an illness, and Ching scored late in the game for the win. A defensive showcase for the Bulls, who were not able to muster much offense. Sounds familiar?

DC United 4 – Red Bulls 1 6-11-08

RFK was once again a burial ground for the Bulls, as they hobbled into DC with a decimated squad, against a United team missing Gallardo. It didn’t matter; DC pwnd the Bulls in a devastating loss.

New England 1 – Red Bulls 1 6-18-08

Here is another loss that I haven’t forgotten. The Bulls had the lead throughout this game in dreaded Foxborough, when suddenly the Revs tie it up late on a Ralston goal. The Bulls suffered a severe letdown, one that was as hard to get past as the DC beatdown before it.

CHIVAS 1 – Red Bulls 1
– 6/29/08

The Bulls scored in the 25th off of a Dave Van Den Bergh cross, but Ante Razov victimizes Kevin Goldthwaite on a giveaway before the half, and the Bulls never recover. Another draw on the road.

RAPIDS 4 – RED BULLS 0 – 7/4/08

Who can forget this holiday trouncing? An absolute massacre at the hands of Colorado.

Kansas City 2 – Red Bulls 1 – 7/10/08

The Wizards scored early on a Conrad header, and later doubled up on an Arnaud strike to take the victory. The Bulls managed a late game rally, and nearly stole a point, but an Angel strike was not enough to take them down. The streak continues.

SAN JOSE 1 – Red Bulls 1 – 7/27/08

Here is a game that is easy to remember! Eric Denton leaves Joe Cannon star gazing as he heads one into his own net for the early 1-0 Red Bull lead. Nine Minutes later, Huckerby scores for San Jose. And that was it.

DC 0 – Red Bulls 0 – 8/30/08

A rare Jaime Moreno missed penalty shot gifted the Bulls a point on the road.

CHICAGO 1 – RED BULLS 0 – 9/6/08

A one sided affair, the Bulls were out shot 14 to 3 en route to yet another devastating road loss against a dreaded rival. Stephen King scared his way into the score sheet (get it?)

CREW 3 – Red Bulls 1 9-18-08

A Schelotto-less Black and Yellow down the Bulls bad. Memorable moment? Eddie Gaven scoring against his former side.

RSL 1 – Red Bulls 1
– 10/10/08

In an exciting, playoff atmosphere type game, the Bulls tied RSL at the opening of their Rio Tinto park. A hard fought matchup on both ends featured lots of back and forth, ultimately ending in a tie

CHICAGO 5 – Red Bulls 3 – 10/23/08

The Fire clinch their playoff birth against the rutterless Red Bulls. What else can be said?

Seattle 3 – Red Bulls 0 – 3/19/09

The season opener. This is the place I feel it all started to snowball. A shocking loss to the expansion Sounders has left the Bulls reeling all season long.

FIRE 1 – Red Bulls 0 – 4/5/09

Marco Pappa sealed the deal against the Bulls, who were up a man from the 14th minute on. Devastating. Crushing. Telling. Call it what you will.

Dynamo 0 – New York 0

A boring, forgettable draw for a game that had alot of passionate expectations built into it.

Wizards 1 – Red Bulls 0

Carlos Johnson draws the red card, and the Bulls can not respond on the road.

Galaxy 1 – Red Bulls 0 – 5/3/09

A Seth Stammler hand ball costs the Bulls, as Donovan lines up for the PK and nets it. The Bulls were never able to respond. The mental errors begin to show more and more . . .

DC 2 – Red Bulls 0 – 6/4/09

DC wins the Atlantic Cup at RFK. Two months into the season. And this doesn’t even include the loss in the US Open Cup.

Revolution 4 – Red Bulls 0 – 6/7/09

You guys remember this one . . . .

TFC 2 – Red Bulls 1 – 6/13/09

The Bulls score their first road goal since December of last season, but it was not enough. TFC takes down an eager Red Bulls squad at home.

RECAP:

Record: 0-14-6
Goals For: 11
Goals Against: 38
