2009 Schedule and Red Bull Arena Update

By: Dave Martinez | December 3rd, 2008

MLS has released some details on the first three weeks of the MLS season, and the Red Bulls have alot on their plate to start the season.

New York will be making their charge into the 2009 season with a visit to Seattle for the Sounders inaugural bash March 19th! With thousands of season tickets already sold in the Washington area, I wouldn’t be surprised to see 25,000 plus chanting as one sea of green. Next stop?

A long, jet lagging trip back to meet the ever dangerous Taylor Twellman and his New England Revolution in the cold of the swamp. And we cap off this little adventure with a showdown in Chicago against arch rivals, the Fire. Plenty of action (and cold weather) to kick things off for sure.

And in other scheduling news, according to league sources, early projections suggest that the Bulls are aiming for at least three games to be played for the 2009 season at the Red Bull Arena! As a season ticket holder, that is a bit of news that has me quite excited. That reminds me . . . I have to renew . . .

So is all this action a plus for you? Or would a start of the Sounders, Rapids and TFC been a happier outcome? Satisfied with three games? Or did you expect none to begin with? Let me know what you think.

Three home games in the new stadium would be fantastic. Hopefully playoffs as well.
