A Modicum of Revenge: RBNY 2 – Crystal Palace 0

By: Dave Martinez | March 13th, 2009

Matt Mbuta and the Red Bulls returned to the place that caused them so much humiliation; well, for everyone EXCEPT Mbuta. He was a major part of the Crystal Palace side that pushed Red Bull out of US Open Cup competition last season. The score was Crystal Palace 2, Red Bulls ZIPPO. Shortly there after, he took the move up North with Osorio and his merry band.

Fast forward, 2009.

It’s Matt Mbuta finding the back of the net, along with new signee Khano Smith, as the new, faster, and more dangerous 2009 Red Bulls squad took down Baltimore with the same score they lost by last season.

The Bulls have now concluded their preseason run, and await the Seattle Sounders Thursday night (as will I my friends).

The Bulls have only tasted defeat twice in an offseason that has included opponents from the Argie Primera to the US U-17 program to the USL. The looks have been consistently, well, non-consistent, and that seems to be part of Osorio’s game plan; teach the boys to play in multiple looks and succeed in doing so.

Has the Bulls preseason given you hope? Will the newest signings make an immediate impact?
