AFTER THE DEBACLE: WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

By: Dave Martinez | October 5th, 2007

This will be short and sweet.

Yesterdays loss left a bitter taste in my mouth (which then turned to vomit when I watched the rest of the Yankees game).

We have a World Class Coach, World Class players, Youngsters who play hard and well, and are a piece or two away from having a truly dominant club. At least, thats what we thought. Then came TFC.

Where was the passion that first half? Where is that urgency to secure the spot?! What happened to the creativity here?!

We had the playoffs in our hands and we blew the opportunity. And I am one Red Bulls fan does not want to back into the playoffs. Thats not how Champs do.

Sound off ladies and gentlemen. To all of you RAGING Bulls fans everywhere. Sound off.

I’ve backed Bruce all season long, but now I have to admit that it really seems like he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he doesn’t play Mendes and Freeman over Leitch and Stammler, or the fact that he really seems to believe that the latter pair is better than the former. At times he legitimately seems detached from reality. Almost EVERY SINGLE RBNY fan wants to see a backline that looks like this:

    VDB—-Parke—-Mendes—-Freeman

I would say the greatest debate among Metro fans is actually the left back position. It’s truly dumbfounding that Bruce sticks with Stammler and — especially — Leitch game after game.

Of course, just blaming the defense does ignore other existing problems. But, when we play at home at least, there are always about two major defensive mistakes that cost us points.

At least this will just make it that much sweeter when we finally win a trophy in about 40 years.

Yea I never thought I would root for a franchise with a history that is shaping up to be more Red Sox than Yankees.

Oh Well. Then again, I do like the Islanders . . . .

But point well taken Pete. Ive been saying it all year – without the D, the midfield and the forwards matter not.

its totally the D. Is a shamefull group. At some point we have to add better personell or get more out of the guys we have. Its pathetic.

And I agree with peter, Mendes needs to play over Leitch. A blindman can see that.

A sad display by RB, but we’ve apparently made the playoffs anyway (thanks to Columbus).
