Alert: Operation Angel is Go!

Look, over there -- it's a Red Bull.Heads up, everyone: Juan Pablo Angel’s work visa has landed! Ives says he’ll definitely play Sunday against Colorado, and may even suit up tomorrow night for the Cup match against LA. (Though, since none of us can actually watch that match, I’m secretly sort of hoping he doesn’t.) Hells yeah, as they say — it’s about damn time he was allowed on the pitch.

Angel has reportedly been phenomenal (as you might expect, he’s “on a different level”) in training, and the team look good around him. According to Ives, the Red Bulls have been working in a straight 4-4-2, with Mathis staying in the side by sliding on for Richards (sorry, Dane) on the right and working both wide and in behind the strikers.

I’m only a little ashamed to say I’m getting chills thinking about the match on Sunday. What do you guys think — can we get a massive *cough* crowd of 10,000 out at Giants Stadium for the big debut?

  • I'm worried about Cletus out wide too, Peter. I'd imagine he'll drift into the center more often than not, leaving the flank open for Freeman, who's done a great job pushing forward so far. We'll see if that leaves a hole in the back or not, though.

Figures that Richards is the odd man out after scoring this week. I'm excited to see Angel but not too sure about playing Cleetus there.
