Alert: The Angel Has Landed. Repeat, the Angel Has Landed!
By: Martha | April 23rd, 2007
Juan Pablo Angel is on the ground in NY, and as usual Ives Galarcep was first with the news. According to Ives, Angel will train with the team tomorrow morning and, while the practice isn’t officially open to the public, it’s taking place on a college campus and will be awfully hard to actually close. The session runs from 1030am until noon, so those of you who a)live anywhere near Montclair State, or b)have a car, are obligated to go, take pictures, and then report back to the rest of us in glowing terms.
No word on the visa front yet, but even baby steps are encouraging at this point — it’s great to have him with the team, particularly because it’ll give Bruce time to work out what system he wants to use. Or, rather, if the one he’s got in mind will actually work. (Me, I’ve been having 3-5-2 fantasies, with Mathis behind Jozy and Angel and ahead of Dema and Reyna who will sit deep, but I’m not sure yet who I’d take out of the back. Like I said, it’s fantasy.)
In other news, the club continues to rise in the power rankings: We’re top of ESPN’s this week, and second (behind Chicago) at Sideline Views. I would say “enjoy it while it lasts,” but since I’m hoping it will last for a while, I’ll just say “Woo hoo!”
Edit: Dangit. Turns out JPA can’t train until his papers come through. Forget that trip out to Jersey, then.
