All is Quiet in Red Bulls Camp

We love the skillz. As usual. Are they even really training? I’m starting to wonder.

All that we’re hearing these days is firm-ish confirmation that Ecuador’s scoring machine Tin Delagado was the DP Bruce Arena was teasing last week. It seems to have been pretty much a done deal until the “setbacks” Bruce spoke about it arose, primary among them FIFA’s decision to make Delgado’s ban for that massive brawl in the Ecuadorian league an international one. And, since that decision means the goal-scoring crazy man wouldn’t be able to turn out for RBNY until 2008, it would have be awfully silly to waste a DP spot on him. Oh, and he’s also being investigated by cops in Ecuador over charges he punched some guy at a club on New Year’s Eve. Hell, forget the Red Bulls — the guys is perfect for the Bengals.

In other news, the king of Futbol de Calle was crowned last night at a big blowout at Webster Hall in Manhattan. Those of you who are into the whole “Oooh! Pretty!” skill contest thing can read the rundown here. For the rest of you, suffice to say a guy named Steve Elias won, and that the tricks that really got the attention of the judges involved cans of Red Bull. Shocking, that. In a past life, Elias spent some time on the U-20 Canadian national team and also played professionally in France (though the level has cleverly not been disclosed). Yes, he’s fallen quite a ways.
