All The Bull - 6/24
By: Dave Martinez | June 24th, 2008
Here are some of the more interesting Red Bulls tidbits that have slipped through my ever typing fingers:
+ Do you know we are playing Chivas twice this week? And that there is no chance we will see Guzan in nets for both games? That is because Chivas Guadelajara is hosting our Red Bulls in an international club friendly at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
Now why would anyone schedule an impromtu friendly in the middle of a hectic schedule, which also includes preperations for the US Open Cup? Taking a cue from the magnificent turn out for a DC United / Madrid match in Seattle not too long ago, it may be to gauge the interest in the Arizona area for a professional soccer franchise. That means that there will be no choice - the players will just have to play, grin and bear it (so are the sacrifices of a growing league). Not saying its fair - simply that its necessary for the greater good (oh how I HATE that term!) The team is actually in Arizona now. Osorio spoke to the Arizona Republic, basically saying that this is a good opportunity to start young kids.
Telefutura or Telemundo will be broadcasting the event, so check your local listings.
+ Speaking of which, the US Open Cup is well under way, featuring the City Islanders taking on Crystal Palace tonight in Pennsylvania. Why care? The winner of this match will host the Red Bulls as they continue on their hunt to find silverware that will look good next to the La Manga Cup.
+ Soccer365 had a few words with Osorio about Sinisa’s breakout performance this week - “We’ve been working a lot in trying to convince him that when he plays effective football - meaning no back heels, no outside flicks and giving simple inside passes - he can compete and play at this level.”
It reminded me of the great promise Sinisa came in with last year, only to fall short of CAM expectations. Lets hope the growth continues throughout the season and beyond.
+ David Roth, Danleigh Borman and Andrew Boyens took a trip down to Morristown Neighborhood House, where they took some time out with some kids to teach them a couple of skills and hang. Rumor has it Borman was holding private lessons - “How not to celebrate a goal.”

The NYRB v. Chivas game is actually at the University of Phoenix Stadium, in Glendale, AZ.
