All The Bull: A Welcome Addition?

By: Dave Martinez | July 23rd, 2008

- La Prensa Honduras says he has passed the test – and George Welcome will inevitabley play in Major League Soccer (I know this hasnt been reported this side of the Mexican border, but its coming straight from the horses mouth here).

Now, the question remains, for which team?

Of course, New England owns the developmental rights to George Welcome, as the young Honduran forward trialed with the team in May. The Red Bulls are interested. And New England is said to be as well. Let the games begin.

From the article (translated for my fair skinned peeps):

Osorio said that they will now iniciate negotiations to get Welcome, who also is bein persued by another MLS club, the Revolution.

Welcome practically garunteed his signing with MLS and it will be for New York or New England

Yet another article out of Honduras claims that Welcome wants to play for the “Neoyorquinos” (thats us for the spanish slang impared) – which I am all for.

Can George Welcome be the young stud forward we are looking for? Or will this be another Lider Marmol Saga?

- Dane Richards, the speedy, diminutive midfielder/forward, has made great strides on the attack this season. Unfortunately, he finds himself back on the DL. He will be out 4-6 weeks once again, this time with a hip flexor. He adds an element of surprise, and his speed is rarely matched in this league. You can bet Red Bull will be missing him. For such a young man to continuously be injured is terrible, but I am sure that artificial surface at the Stadium isnt helping things.

- The Bulls face San Jose this week, as they look to round off their season record – to 6-6-6. Insert evil corporate empire jokes here.

- Something funny is up with Oscar Echeverry. If you followed this weekends Galaxy game, it became painfully clear that Eche stopped playing at times, even during vital attacks, clutching at all his lower extremities. With the clandestine, Mickey Mouse injury reports this league allows teams to give, one is sadly left to speculate. Is he injured? Is he out of shape? What is going on with Oscar Echeverry?

- The Red Bulls released Ricky Schramm earlier this week. He was a young forward from this years draft. Personally, I am suprised I havent read any news titles saying “Scram, Schramm!”

- And finally, MLS gives some much deserved love (after they gave him the all star snubarooski) to Dave Van Den Bergh: Read up on New York’s Dutch Saviour.

I actually did lol! Good work. JCO said *he was a posibility*, probably due to all things that would have to fall into place. I admire him as one needs the patience of a saint, regarding the red tape, of trying to assemble a high caliber team. So still I hope and wait…!
