All the Bull: Cubanos, Luke Sassano, Reyna and Cepero, Juan Pablo

Hello again,

Well, the anesthesia has somewhat worn off, and I enjoyed a great nights sleep. If you ever have to “go under,” the nervousness will be well worth it once the first shot of goodness is injected into the saline. I tried to count to 100 and try to fight the effects; instead, I woke up and asked “When are we getting started?” to the doctors reply “Started? We are already done!” So, with a bit of a soar throat and a well rested body, I am happy to give you a round up from Red Bull land!

- First off, I like the fact that the title of this post features a bunch of names that end in the letter O. Pat on the back for me on that one.

- The Goffster has been peaking around Red Bull land, as he has a couple of updates. I will start with this gem. Reinier Alcantara is a Cuban forward who “jumped ship” to the land of Uncle Sam. He told the Goffster that the Red Bulls were sure to give him a tryout this winter, and perhaps, have already put a discovery claim on the player. More on that as it develops.

- Goff also has the latest on Luke Sassano. Apparently, he was injured in the final, and will be forced into a boot until training camp. No surgery would be necessary. Between him and Juan Pablo, its amazing the team didn’t wind up in wheelchairs by the end of the campaign!

- While Osorio is checking out the action in the Digicell Caribbean Cup, Jeff Agoos is enjoying the atmosphere at the NCAA tourneys (where Red Bull is well represented), and both are setting their sites on January for the MLS Combine. Discovery claims, signings and all that goodness can’t be that far behind.

- Quick Update: Though its been reported in various places, I just heard that Juanpy is trying to secure an extra year beyond 2009, with a little bonus for the past two seasons thrown in. Thats welcome news to me – Juanpie till 2010? I’m down . . . . and I hope Red Bull is too.

- And finally, local boy done good Claudio Reyna was honored in Stamford by their Youth Soccer League, accompanied by the Red Bulls 2008 surprise player, Danny Cepero. Click this link for the goods.
