All The Bull: Red Bulls Ring Closing Bell on Wall Street
By: Dave Martinez | August 4th, 2008
As if the economic stimulus package wasn’t enough to encourage the nation to put a little extra dough into the countries money stream, Wall Street has decided to bring in the big guns - The Red Bulls will be ringing the closing bell for NASDAQ today!
Agoos and Osorio will be on hand, along with Van Den Bergh, Stammler and about 20 other Bulls. If this seems familiar to you, then you may have been a fan when Amado Guevara and company represented the Bulls in 2006 (pic look familiar?)
Any how, its been a busy weekend, and I was too busy entertaining family from Argentina to update you on the giant trade (physically enormous, not blockbuster). So lets get to it:
- Zach Thornton, we barely knew ye’. Our backup keeper has been sent to keeper - thin Chivas USA for future considerations. And it looks like Chivas has Big plans for the Big Cat. Its hard to comment on a person you barely, if ever, saw play. But his resume is getting him better work out there, so God bless em. He started this week for Chivas USA in a loss to the Fire.
- Barcelona completely dominated Chivas Guadelajara yesterday 5 - 2. And they definitely did not treat this like some nothing friendly game (did anyone see that Xavi tackle?!). What does this have to do with the Red Bulls? We will find out this Wednesday.
- In an interesting article from ESPN regarding USL’s top prospects, Danny Cepero, listed first, claims that he expects a call up “in August” from the Red Bulls after a stellar campaign with the Islanders (16 games, 14 goals allowed, .875 goals against). This is the first and only thing I have heard about it. But they do have another option in Sewell. We shall see what the future holds for a surging Cepero.
- Finally, Ives on ESPN gives us the top 10 questions heading into the second half of the 2008 season. Its a fun read so check it out.
