ALL THE BULL: Rojas Raves, International Duty, Trialists, More
By: Dave Martinez | September 3rd, 2008
Well, business is back to normal after the Kandji disaster last week. Weeks of good news and achievement took a backseat to the alleged communist behavior of the MLS. But people do forget rather quickly, especially after the team has performed so damn well in a historically disasterous period for previous Metro/Bull squads.
Facing the final 8 games in the season (4 home, 4 away), the Red Bulls continue their march to securing a playoff berth. Osorio has done this before – just ask the Fire fans this week. Will he make it two dramatic midseason turns in a row?
Here is the news:
+ Goldthwaite is out v. Chicago with yellow card accumulation issues. Andrew Boyens and Jorge Rojas, meanwhile, will be representing the countries respectively in WCQ action. But don’t fret – Chicago Fire standouts Blanco, and Gonzalo Segeres won’t be available either. So hopefully, that will even things out a bit.
+ Speaking of the Vinotinto captain, he raved about his MLS experience to this point. Saying he feels “rejuvenated” in New York, the national team hopes that same enthusiasm reflects in his play. Rojas also thanked Osorio for having the faith in him to play up top as the midfield orchestrator. For thos who can read a little spanish, click here!
+ The Red Bulls are looking at yet another prospect trialist – Sahr Senesie. Who is this kid? Well, at the age of 23, he comes to us from Englands Nottingham Forest, but was more widely reknown for his time at Borussia Dortmund (at various levels excluding the senior squad), and his work with the German U-20 (he is a Sierra Leone native who is a naturalized German citizen). His time with the German Nat’s yielded 25 goals in 81 games. On the negative side, he is only 5′8″, and we already have a speedy Dane Richards and a prospect in Danleigh Borman that could fit that roll. Could Senesie be worth it?
LATE EDIT: Richards will not be with the Jamaican MNT. My bad! =)
