All The Bull: The Cup, Vote for RB Fans, Mission Update
By: Dave Martinez | November 19th, 2008
There is alot of stuff going on this week, so lets get at it:
- There are now over 200 Red Bull supporters traveling out to Los Angeles, California to catch this historic game. ESC will be alive and kicking, along with Raging Bull Nation, and the rest of the RB supporters.
- Will I be one of the people heading out there? Well, I will have an update on that one later on tonight.
- Time to support some of Red Bull Nation! The US Soccer Federation does an annual peoples choice style vote on the best of 2008, including Blog and Photo of the year. NO, I was not nominated (I think I need a bigger net!). But two standout Red Bull supporters were!
“The Kin of Fish” is up for photo of the year. Click the link to check out the blog.
And also, the irreverent OffsideRules by JerseyTexan is also up for Blog of the Year. He is also part of the “mafia” dubbed “Designated Players,” headed by Ives Galarcep.
- Here is a quote from “The Don” Garber about this years improbable Red Bulls run:
“From my perspective how is it a negative? We had a similar story with the Red Bulls. This thing is an incredible positive. When the Giants get to the Super Bowl as a wild card or with a .500 records, it’s heralded as an incredible sports story. But when the Red Bulls do it people think it’s a joke.”
Alexei Lalas, I hope you caught that.
- Another Juan Pablo Angel to River Plate article has come up in El Clarin from Argentina. River is greatly struggling this season, and, as they did with Ariel Ortega, they are digging their hands into the past for answers.
- Finally, from the way news is shaping out, the Red Bulls seem to be behind the 8 ball. Sigi Schmid, coach of the Crew, has come off like a media darling, as Los Angeles is eating up this “local boy done good” story. Add onto that the fact that several Columbus players have strong ties to California, and it would seem that the boys from Ohio have forged a home field advantage half way across the country.
