AND WE ARE BACK! RECAP: RBNY 1 – CHICAGO ZILCH!

By: Dave Martinez | September 4th, 2007

So the Bulls came through with a convincing win this past Saturday . . .

And I have a functioning computer again!

So here is the new and improved recap, starting with our 1 – 0 embarassment of Wanchope and El Gran Cuat!

Enjoy!

First and foremost, the good bad and ugly format is out the window for me. Check out DCenters.com and you’ll understand why. We cant have anything in common with the scumetry . . . .

So instead, as I work on a new format, some game thoughts from this past weekend.

BAKARY SOUMARE HAS A MAN CRUSH ON JOHN WOLYNIEC

I feel like I am the only one who caught Soumare just bashing Woly’s knee caps in all game . . .

He should make a kids soccer video and highlight his ways of maiming opponents without drawing a card . . . this should be its cover . . . .

Yes Kids, now you can nearly kill your friends, the Bakary Soumare Way!

Im never picking that guy on my fantasy team . . . .

But back to topic. How did this guy NOT draw a friggin card? He was hitting some pretty ugly tackles and NOTHIN. Im sure this would have been a bigger deal if we lost, but I just had to highlight this. It really got under my skin. Alot.

COME BACK PLAYERS!

KUDOS to THE WALRUS! The man played a tremendous game, and when he kicked that ball off, it flew like a cannon. His positioning was completely on point. And the distribution is something Jon Conway can not provide. Not like Wally when he is at his best.

Though I love Conway, we have to realize where he is deficient. Waterboy is able to hand the ball off all over the field, and create a fluid motion to the offense and defense in so doing.

And lets not forget Reyna! Reyna has been a TOSRB whooping boy for a few weeks now, dashing the heart of yours truly. But he is coming back at the right time! His passes are short and crisp, he is playing with more fire – hey, maybe the old man just needed a rest! Show it to us the next few games Claudio . . . make a believer out of all your skeptics . . . .

ARENAS BRILLIANCE (also known as DVB is an LB!)

Our lineup v. The Fire . . . .

————WALLY————-
LEITCH—STAMMLER–PARKE—-DVB
——-REYNA—–VIDE———
DANE———————MATHIS
——–ANGEL—WOLY———-

Mathis drifts towards the middle, DVB plays the left back position the way Dunivant used to (pushing up the wing side, drawing back to the defense, looking for opportunities to attack, and recovering in time to defend), Reyna lays back and moves forward only in the safest situations, where extra bodies could be used, Dane Rushing the wings, leitch playing a more reserved Defensive role . . . . . what a strategy.

And it was all made possible by DVB and the chances taken by Mr. Arena (who is definitely making up for some serious gaffes throughout the season . . . In Bruce we Trust).

JP ANGEL

JP Angel has scored 14 GOALS in 17 GAMES, with 4 ASSISTS to boot. Thats more than a point per game, nearly a goal a game, and, simultaneously, he has been able to take Altidore under his wing and show him the proper way to finish.

This Red Bull truly has wings . . .

WANCHOWHO?!

Hey, I heard the Giant Stadium turf scared Paolo. Which is probably why I didnt notice him playing a ghost on the field . . . . Angel > Wanchope.

SPECIAL THANKS TO MATHIS

Mathis was honored by a contingent from Metrofanatic.com for being the teams all time goal scorer.

Cheers to you Cletus. 13 LEGEND!!!!!!

=================================================

STAR OF THE GAME: Ron Waterreus. You have to give it to em. Great effort, solidified our backlines, and distributed our attack in an efficient manner.
PLAY OF THE GAME: THE ANGEL GOAL. And WHAT a goal. The man finishes on a beautiful Dane Richards feed to seal the game.
JACKASS OF THE GAME: WANCHOPE. Sorry. I am a bitter RBNY fan. And he snubbed us because of our fake turf. Screw off. You stink anyway. Chicago can keep you. just like they can keep that crappy song CHICAGO by good old Franky, which is just a cheap replica of New York New York. We have Angel. And Altidore. Tee Hee, as Jim Norton would say . . .

Did I miss why Altidore didn’t play? I was at the game, and it was great, but I would have loved to see Jozy.
