Anelka Rumors…

Reports from France have surfaced reporting that Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka may be in talks with NYRB for a potential move away from the London powerhouse.  Before we all start getting too excited, let’s remember what this is: a rumor.  It hasn’t been the first one, most likely won’t be the last, so we shouldn’t get too swept up in this one just yet (remember when Raul was destined for the Big Apple?).  European rumors seem to be a dime a dozen these days, and they almost always involve NYRB.  In theory, this move could make sense considering Anelka seems to be the odd man out at Chelsea with new addition of Fernando Torres.  And as much as I am salivating at the prospect of a front line featuring Anelka and his former French teammate Thierry Henry, let’s try not to let this go to our heads.  Until I got more concrete information besides one report from one French newspaper, I’ll make sure I don’t get too hyped by this rumor.  Stay tuned, this one is sure to take us for a ride.

Could Henry and Anelka be reunited once again?

eh...as much as anelka is a world class forward i don't want 'em only because we need a goal keeper or a serious LB/RB. if we had attacking backs with pace to cover ground when defending we would be set. As for mid-field and forwards we are pretty stacked (i'll take Zé Roberto when he comes) and the only reason i wouldn't say we need a CB is because Ream is a wunderkind and Rafa can always be put in the back line.

oh and Dave any news what Woly is up too. Did he take a job with RBNY or is he just out of the game completely.

We already have Henry, Rodgers, Hertzog, Agudelo, Salou, Chirgadzi, and Chinn we dont need anymore forwards. Soler needs to look into another back

i'm with ya on the whole back thing but Salou will definitely be waived or sold this year. he has like a 6 digit salary. Chinn is a great sub and chirgadzi hasnt played a match for us yet so i can't imagine with this pool of forwards him getting a chance.

I agree JFC. I just threw Chirgadzi in there because he is listed as a forward. He was hurt last year and as a Homegrown player he wouldnt see alot of time anyways.
Also Salou in my opinion doesnt fit Backes offensive scheme anymore. With guys like Agudelo, Henry, and now Rodgers they are looking like a quicker offensive attack. Salou is big slow and loses the ball alot.
As for backs dowes anyone think that Hot may get a shot to see some playing time in the back? Hes been working with Petke during preseason and may compliment Ream seeing that he describes himself as a Ream like player. Put him on the Outside opposite Albright could work. Just my personal opinion if he proves to be a good player.
