Angel OFFERED to Atletico Nacional . . . rejected.
By: Dave Martinez | January 9th, 2008
Can you believe we shopped around JPA?!
Well, get ready for this one folks.
Óscar Héctor Quintabani, head coach of Colombias treasured NACIONAL, was looking for some extra fire power heading into the Copa Libertadores.
Who did he want? You guessed it.
Angel filled Nacionals need for a quality striker, and was said to be part of the transfer process. Ultimately, the asking price was too high and Nacional rejected it.
Talk about dodging a bullet.
It does make one wonder . . . what were the details of such an acquisition? How much did Red Bull ask?
And it also sheds light to the Red Bull Mission, under the direction of Osorio and Agoos – anything can and will happen.
The transfer names this offseason have been mediocre at best – Eskandarian, Perkins and a forray of other rumored mid level pieces. But to throw Angels name out there, our best player, and arguably the most important player on our pitch, you add a new dimension to our business plan, and a new appreciation for the men in charge (both good or bad).
The nightmare has been evaded. Lets hope we dont have any more brushes like these.
What are your thoughts?
