Another Loss, Another Signing: Gabriel Cichero
By: Dave Martinez | July 12th, 2008
So this theory has gone from a comical hypothetical to a head slapping reality: Every Bulls loss seems to result in some International signing.
This weeks band aid is Gabriel Cichero. Cichero will be with us through the end of the year, and has an option year for 2009. ABN broke the story yesterday. Cichero is a Venezuelan National Team member, playing over 10 games with the senior squad. He is a natural CB wtih great poise exhibited against some the best attacks South America has to offer. Cichero is the defensive anchor that we have desperately been looking for.
He lauded praise all over Osorio, speaking of how wonderful it is to have a Coach of a team seek you out with such determination, specifically looking for his services, and he, much like Rojas and Pietravallo, used the word “flattering” to describe it. Man. Osorio has to teach me his sales techniques.
Also mentioned in the ABN article is the fact he may play against the Galaxy – and he confirmed the possibility.
With Cichero in tow, the potential for our backlines is endless:
In a 3-5-2
-Pietravallo—Reyna/Stammler-
Jimenez—–Cichero——Parke
————Conway———–
In a 4-4-2
Rojas—Pietravallo—Reyna/Stammler/DVB—Richards/Ubi
Jimenez—–Cichero——Parke——Freeman
——————Conway—————–
Pretty interesting combinations.
