Barcelona Charity Event Open To Public: Prizes and more!
By: Dave Martinez | August 5th, 2008
FC Barcelona and MalariaNoMore.org are teaming up today for a special charity event on the lower west side - and you are invited!
The “More Than A Game” event will feature a 4 v 4 tournament, with teams including Thierry Henry, Eric Abidal, Xavi Hernandez, Rafael Marquez, Carlos Puyol, Iniesta, Bojan and Daniel Alves.
It will be held at the Chelsea Waterside Park (23rd street and 11th avenue) at 5pm TODAY.
All proceeds, of course, will go to MalariaNoMore.org. Each year, hundreds of thousands die of illness, when a simple net, which costs $10 a piece, is all that is needed to prevent such tragedy. Anyone who has gone to the Caribbean and slept under these things will attest to what I am saying. Its an extremely worthwhile and nobel cause which I would encourage everyone to participate in.
This promises to be a very open and fun atmosphere - a chance to meet some of the worlds best players, in an intimate setting, for a great cause.
I will be there representing the Offside - so do not hesitate to give me a holla! See you at 5pm!

The Manny trade was terrible.
I know his “actions” were a little, crazy. But, you’ve got to learn to put up with it. He IS a FURTURE HOF.
Well, he was a Yankee killer as well. So, better for us.
P.S.- Hard loss yesterday. Huh? (Any news on Joba?)

Gents,
Lets leave this spot open for footy talk…but now that we got some good sox talk going..lets do this.
Manny had to go. The organization put up with this for over 8 years. I was one of the manny apologist here in boston..and after the events that he has been evolved this year…there was nothing more to apologize about. He was not trusted as a player or person. He took days off when he wanted..perfect example was that friday night game against the yanks…he decided not to play and that was it…and then the other incident of him pushing a 64 year old man cause he could not get him tickets…cmon now
was it an awful trade..yes..did we give up too much to get rid of him.YES. but if he was still around..the season would have been over..and this would have been like 2006 all over again..Posted from

Jorge - I applaud you. That was seriously funny. Excuse my obvious bias. All we can agree on is that Manny is finally someone elses pain in the ass. Thank god.
Ok. Back to my Barce post.
PS: Did I mention I went to that fatal game 7 with a Red Sox fan in the bleechers? Ya. Fun times.

DC is right up with the Sox for me. The only reason I dont bad mouth DC on this blog is because of good people like BlueMeanies and Catherine-Lucia, who are DC fans, but good and objective ;). Blanketing everyone scum on here isnt right to good ones.
