BE THE ARMCHAIR GM ! Todays topic: Francis Doe.

By: Dave Martinez | February 20th, 2008

So Picture this.

You sign a contract with a team. You played some games the year before, late in the season, and added some zest to the attack. So they pick you up for another season.

Same week you sign, you find out your being used as tradebait.

DOH!

Tis the life of a Mr. Francis Doe.

Ives is reporting (as only he knows how) that Francis Doe is being cast out on that Red Bulls fishing line, as they try to lure a more needed commodity. As Ives suggests, left footed left back anyone?

ARMCHAIR DAVE: Conde for Doe and a 1st rounder

Remember . . . there are plenty of teams in the MLS looking for some help from an experienced striker . . . . and the Liberian national fits the bill. Think about it. San Jose, LA, Houston, Crew, Chicago, Colorado, Wizards, RSL, TFC . . . I mean the list is endless. i just choose Chicago because of recent rumors, but the field is wide open

You know what trade I see happening. But I am not always right.

As speculation is always set to run rampant in these cases, I ask our loyal readers to answer the following:

WHO WOULD YOU TRADE FOR, USING FRANCIS DOE AS THE BAIT?

UPDATE:

Ives is also reporting Dane Richards would be an option if the trade were for Conde . . . keep that in mind as well!

We need Dane far more than we need doe, Although that will quickly change should Altidore get picked up (as he probably will) next transfer season.

It seems to me that Osorio’s 3-5-2 is very much designed because we simply don’t have a good 4 backline we can summon, and we have 2 decent CDM’s.

I still don’t understand the moving Reyna forward. Hopefully I’ll understand if there manages to be some synergy between him and Angel.

I understand the need for Doe “the back up plan”, but if we can net a Conde for em . . . that would be something special.

And Dane does add us an extra dimension that is desperately needed on this team. So i am glad that deal was shot down.

As far as Reyna goes . . . I will say it again. I hate to root against him, so I am left with simple optimism to keep my thoughts away from the negative.

Doe is a speed demon, while Richards is more of a depth player, no?

Conde is overrated, keep the 1st rounder!
