Matt – thats my argument. A 4-5-1 without a 1 that has some teeth to em threatens no one. So every team will play physically and shut us down. MLS is about as hockey as any soccer league can get – contact is everywhere. We should at least try Mega as a lone striker, or he and Woly in a 4-4-2.

The problem with the 4-5-1 is that it is effective…when your team is REALLY GOOD at controlling the pace of play, and your striker is godly.
This team needs more of everything, and realizing that suddenly they’re pretty toothless, and now need to attack constantly might just be the first step.

Sal – very true. But I cant help but hate a 4-5-1 formation, and another forward would make it go away.

But you want to talk about the backline? How about the midfield people say they have?

The point seems to be – every section of the field needs help. I just chose to focus on forwards because I truly HATE the 4-5-1. Personal bias.

What’s with all the forwards?

With the worst back line in the MLS, I figure that would be the #1 priority. Unless you’re literally trying to become the Gals of the east.

Ortega is def a CAM – but like you said – couldn’t we use him? Besides he grew up playing forward so why not. 2 birds 1 gallina millionario.

I think of Ortega as more of an attacking Mid then a forward, but you guys don’t really have one of those either do you? I would like to see him in the league, but I don’t think his 34 your old frame would handled Giants Stadium any better then Reyna’s does.
