how did the retarded rules for the MLS – designed IMO to protect the teams from going bankrupt by spending too much cash without a fanbase {ala North American Soccer League} or to protect small markets from major ones {unless they are LA} – turn into a diatribe on fascism vs Communism?

for what its worth fascism is usually defined as the individual’s rights being totally at the will of the state and the state being corporate controlled, often with a religious aspect. Communism usually is defined as the individual’s rights being totally subservient to the greater will of the ‘people’, usually represented by the state. however without a religious side or a corporate side.

oh man, now Im doing it.

Anyway Fuck the fire and the MLS’ rules that to take away our players – be it a communist or fascist conspiracy!!!

Thanks for your response, Dave. I’ll take your word on this issue. I was trying to come down 50/50 on the classic definitions of communism and fascism. as long as you were approaching it rationally and not like that non-fiction best seller that tries to portray Hillary as Hitler based on similarities between fascism and modern socialism/active government as employed by many developed nations in the modern world. When I worked in the book store that was exactly the type of book that I’d try not to let be prominently displayed (of course it was usually based on what non-fiction books did we have in enough quantity-actually tried to avoid politics at all if I could find a nice biography or science book but this was at a DC Airport- and we also had some complaint about Anti-Bush bias but most of those were on the top 10-New York Times Non-Fiction Best seller shelf- not much you can do about that).

As to discoveries, the system is more fair than the accustations that could be leveled against MLS if they didn’t have a clear priority in negotiations or if they had the old pre-discovery system (league finds a player than places him on a team). The league pays and technically represents the team in negotiations (though reality has changed and they typically rubber stamp after negotiations), they can’t represent two teams at once without allegations of dishonesty and date that the paperwork was filed is the most objective and least vulnerable to allegations of bias of any method. If RBNY hadn’t poisoned the well for negotiations with Chicago so thoroughly (as they have with Columbus previously) they could probably get those rights for a low draft pick. But Chicago wants blood and they’ll get it whenever and however they can.

Read Coreys post anony – I tend to look at it in that way. The classic wording has lost its meaning is all.

Communism is definitely left, but fascism consolidates all power into the government and then distributes wealth in many forms to its subjects with a predetermined notion that they know what is best – government control, government dependency – classic left leaning tenants.

Always down for a debate though.

Sorry Dave. You are confusing fascism with communism. Communism leans to the left and fascism leans to the right (especially in today’s global political climate). Politics 101.
