From Euro Reports To MSG, All Signs Point Thierry Henry To Red Bull

By: Dave Martinez | June 28th, 2010

henryredbullsThe worst kept secret in sports continues to make waves in the European transfer market. This time, it is the Daily Mirror furthering what many already assume; Thierry Henry is coming to the Big Apple.

According to the Mirror, Henry is being allowed to forgo the remainder of his contract at Barcelona at no cost, which is great news to the Red Bulls who are eager at landing the big name Frenchman to their side.

The past year has been a difficult one for the French legend. Starting with his benching at Barcelona, where coach Pep Guardiola questioned Henry’s ambition and inspiration, to his handball heard ’round the world against Ireland, and, most recently, in his role as senior statesmen on a catastrophic French side, Henry has been the eye of the storm in various European mellow dramas. Though his track record is a superior one, he does seem to be carrying quite a bit of baggage on his way to New York.

On the flip side, many of his closest friends, including San Antonio Spurs basketball player Tony Parker amongst others, feel that a change in atmosphere and a new home where he can excel may be just the ticket needed to revive the sleeping giant.

Now, If the Mirror piece isn’t enough of a confirmation for you, here is a commercial played on MSG hinting at “An International Superstar” and “One of the worlds greatest players” coming to New York . . . and if you look close enough, could that be an Arsenal logo on those shorts?

What are your thoughts?
