Jozy Altidore Called up for South Africa Friendly
By: Dave Martinez | November 11th, 2007
Yea, I realize this may be old news for some, but Jozy is heading to South Africa, where the next World Cup is taking place, against the hosts themselves! That is something to celebrate (for those of you holding razors to your wrists)!
This is a wise move by Bob Bradley – give the kid the taste of the eventual setting. He will be there eventually on the real stage, no doubt about it. So might as well wet his appetite now.
Man I love this move.
Kinda makes you forget that the walls are crumbling around us . . . . almost.

I really think Altidore is the striking partner Dempsey has been missing all along on the nats team. Its almost like the missing link. I sincerely hope he gets minutes during this friendly.

Dempsey or Donovan – though it seems Lando is being used at the r wing exclusively.
He will get minutes. Hopefully serious ones. We shall see.

Yeah – I really think Donovan only gets up front like that when there isn’t anyone else available. I think his natural position is a play-maker (when he mentally shows up), not a finisher.
In the last couple-a nats games it looked to me like the missing link was someone to partner with The Deuce. I think Bob’s been bringing in loads of forwards to test out the possible combinations.
