Jozy and Freeman @ U-23 camp
By: Dave Martinez | February 27th, 2008
Peter Nowak will be taking a look at the future these coming weeks, as he has invited a whole HOST of MLS players to his U-23 USMNT.
And the Bulls are WELL represented. No surprise here, as Jozy Altidore and Hunter Freeman are both kicking the ball around at camp, probably as we read this. (camp doesnt NEED to start for some ball kickin to commence!)
Lets see . . . thats 17 players . . . 2 are Red Bulls . . . BY GOD! THAT MEANS 11.7% of MLS PLAYERS in camp are RED BULLS! AMAZING!!!!!
Dont ya love a good throw back joke? Fun with numbers! LINGER LONGER!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, the road to China and the Olympics begins with Cuba (March 11), Panama (March 13) and Honduras (March 15). The top two teams in the four-team group (of which there are two) will then advance to a semifinal in Nashville, Tennessee on March 20. The winners of the two semifinals will then qualify for the Olympics. In case you were curious, the other group consists of Mexico, Haiti, Canada and Guatemala.
A group of death we are definitely not in. But it will be a good test for our youngsters – will they be able to stave off overconfidence and fulfill expectations? Only time will tell.

dane needs to be there too.
I feel conflicted about all the attention Joze is getting.
Its all well deserved for sure and hopefully will lead to some respect from the high profile obsessed refs.
However the writing is clearly on the wall as well. How long can we hold onto Jozy before a European club just makes it impossible to keep him?
How would we, the fans, benefit from a transfer of Joze? If the NYRBs get a transfer fee they cant even use it to bring in another high profile player, what with the cap and all and the max salary thing. I believe, though Im not sure.
So potentially the Red Bulls could lose our best young player and the only ones to benefit would be the owners, yes? Or do I not get something?

Luckily we have over a year to sit on that crisis. By then, Reynas DP will have run its course, and it will be a new market to venture into.
