“Oh, So That’s An MCL? My Bad.”, Or: Magee is Crocked
By: Martha | January 31st, 2007
The dangerously well-informed Ives Galarcep broke the news this morning that Mike Magee (who, it seems, has been in the league since he was an infant) has a torn MCL and will be out until May. Super.
This news would be less galling had the injury just happened, and surgery was being done next Monday in an effort to get the boy back ASAP. The problem, however, is that the tear occurred LAST AUGUST, but was only discovered during what I assume was a routine MRI yesterday. Yes, you read that right: Had the team doctors (who, one assumes, have at least a few weeks of training under their collective belts) actually, you know, done their jobs, Magee’s rehab would have been finished by now and he’d be going into camp at 100%. As it is, he’ll miss the start of the season and someone needs to be smacked.
If I’m not mistaken, this leaves the team with just me, Joze Altidore and Jerrod Laventure as healthy strikers. No, no — I’m not worried at all.
