PLAYER ACQUISITION RUMORS

I never thought that the Minnesota Thunder would come up TWICE in a week on a Red Bulls blog . . . but here we are.

Arena and Company are looking into Mr. Francis Doe, formerly a player in Greece with extensive time in the USL, to fulfill our dire need for a forward. (thanks to IVES)

Wait . . . . what?

Yea. If you were thinking that this guy was a Central Defender, I would not have criticized your judgement – besides, that is our glaring need right? Thats what we are looking for, isnt it?

Instead, we are going after a USL graduate in Doe, to play some forward.

All I keep thinking to myself is that this may actually be the first move in enabling Bruce and Co to work off of a 4-3-3, and the start of some heavy tinkering with our midfield, which currently boasts the deepest assets of any other position on our roster.

Or maybe Bruce has lost the plot.

Our bench would include Patterson, and Doe as our front running Forward replacements. DVB, and RICHARDS as our first liners off the bench, and LEITCH and DEMA KOVALENKO to come off the bench. Dema would have to be pushed to defense if this guy were signed also, if we are to believe this is the last of these inane moves.

So what about Stammler? This would mean that he would have to finally shed that all purpose tag and be just one thing and one thing alone – central defense.

Does this make sense to anyone? What are your thoughts?
