POLL: Carl Robinson
By: Dave Martinez | March 8th, 2010
Last year, one position where the Bulls had more than enough depth and not enough talent was central defensive midfield. Enter Carl Robinson, a talented veteran and fan favorite with Canadian rival Toronto FC who is expected to play a major part in the teams backline reinforcement pending a trial with the team. It has been well established that his services have come at a bargain basement price with Toronto absorbing two thirds of his 300k contract, and the Bulls losing out on a fairly inconsequential draft pick or two.
Though he is on the wrong side of 30, the Bulls would expect the Welsh international to employ stability and leadership in the back line, much as they did when they signed another over 30 veteran; DP disappointment Claudio Reyna. And much like Reyna’s signing, Robinson joins the team with some serious health issues that still remain up in the air.
Once again, like in the Chris Albright situation, Red Bull are taking a chance on a wounded but valuable commodity. Will Robbo do what Albright has failed to do; join the team in time to make an impact?
These are the questions, pro’s and con’s, of Robinsons assumed addition. And that leads us to today’s poll. Let us, as well as Red Bull know, where do you stand on this trade? Take a vote and share your opinion below.
