POLL: Juan Pablo Angel

By: Dave Martinez | August 4th, 2009

He is one goal from tying the Red Bulls all time regular season scoring record. He is the owner of the best goals to games ratio of any long term player in franchise history. He practically took the team on his back last season and dragged them just shy of the finishing line in the MLS Cup. To say that Angel will rank as one of the greatest Metro Bulls ever is an understatement. But has his time come and gone? And do you want it to be?

From BAS:

“I have been tremendously happy in this country,” he said. “I am still very grateful to this franchise for the opportunity that they gave me to play for them. But at the end of the day it hasn’t been an easy year. I have never experienced anything like this. . . . We’ll see at the end of the year. I guess we’ll sit down and we’ll come to a conclusion.”

You can sense the frustration in Angel’s statement, and ultimately, you have to understand it. This season has been so utterly futile that even I get frustrated BLOGGING about the friggin’ team. Imagine being in the center of that sewage storm?! You can not blame him for thinking past the Bulls, but at the same time, it would be an absolute travesty knowing how he sacrificed his body, week in and week out, on the concrete jungle pitch of Giant Stadium, just shy of a brand new, beautiful, Kentucky Blue Grass laden field for one last solid hurrah. It just doesn’t seem right.

So I leave the question in your hands; do you want to see Angel return for the 2010 season?

Should Juan Pablo Angel return for 2010?(trends)

This is probably Rojas' worst game as a RB. He's virtually nonexistant out there, walking about, not going to space. And once again, nice job giving up a goal in the 45th minute. This is beyond rediculous.

And also, since when is Richards a better outside mid option than Zimmerman?

Where's JPA tonight? Resting, injured, or did he finally give up and go home?

Angel must stay with the team. I hope we get a new coach and built a offensive team where angel would be the key player. We want to see angel playing and scoring goals in the new stadium..
Everybody is felling down with this years performance but it is not his fault, it's osorios
I hope we keep the good players of this team (cepero hall celades strammer angel kadji zimmerman.. ) And get new talent to make sure next year we are a good team..

i want to call this season a wash for everyone because i swear something is in the water [let me believe what i want to!] in hopes that next season will be fantastic. or at least back to our usual mediocrity!
  • I'm with Shane. Seriously, that pitch is a disaster.

He has to give us at least one season in the new stadium. He would be cheating himself if he didn't.
