Red Bulls 4 – 0 TFC: The Wonderful World Of Winning!
By: Dave Martinez | February 28th, 2010
The Red Bulls picked up where they left off last season. No, they didn’t lose. They beat the living hell out of a clueless TFC 4-0 on the back of a Juan Pablo Angel hat trick! Many were able to watch the game, including myself, through a livestream supplied by TFC. And what was witnessed was a focused and complete team performance from top to bottom.
Most importantly? They were able to add some highly coveted gold to their trophy case, winning the Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic title!
Somewhere in Orlando, Daffy Duck mutters under his breathe in jealousy.
Angel was the performer of the night, and it was evident that he only needed a little bit of help to get the ball in the back of the net last season. He was denied two amazing scoring opportunities early on, including a bicycle kick gone awry, but that didn’t last too long. By the 32nd minute, he found the back of the net on a beautifully place Lindpere corner kick that found the right head to sink it in the back of the net. But he wasn’t done there. Stand out rookie Tim Ream continued to impress, as he guided a beautiful splitting seam pass to Roy Miller who found Angel in the box for his second of the game. And it was another rookie sensation, Austin da Luz, who found Angel for his third, completing the natural hat trick. Chinn put in the fourth of the game, increasing his impressive offseason tally.
But this wouldn’t be a Metro Bull story without a bit of controversy. An angry Julian Deguzman went in hard on Angel late in the game, taking down the team captain for a red card. Angel was clutching his knee in pain and was subbed out. Cross your fingers as we await the results of that terrible challenge.
Overall, Bulls fans were treated to a dangerous, dominating and focused squad pushing around a division rival. And with days remaining till the opening, it is exactly the kind of mouth watering performance that supporters have been expecting for a very long time.
The Bulls are your Disney Champs! Amazing how a quality coach can turn a teams performance around, eh? Share your thoughts on what you saw, and what you expect from your team this season.
