Red Bulls Down US U-17 Squad 6-0; Suazo, Lindpere, Miller, Tchani Debut

juanagudeloThe Red Bulls preseason continues to have a winning feel to it, as they beat up on the youngin’s of the United States Men’s u-17 team 6-0.

The story here isn’t in the scoreline. After all, they just beat the hell out of some poor kids that were lucky not to have their lunch money stolen in the process! No, the story here are the plethora of debuts featured on the pitch, and the continued emergence of Juan Agudelo with the forward corps.

Here are some of the games debut performers and the starting 11:

- Tony Tchani is finally participating with the team in camp. He was firmly in place as the teams destroyer in the starting 11.
- Joel Lindpere, whom was described on RBR as “not officially signed”, played the central attacking midfielder role.
- Roy Miller was commanding the left back position.
- Juan Agudelo continues to get a hard look with the team, starting up top with Juan Pablo Angel.
- Maynor Suazo, cousin of Honduran great David Suazo, also debuted with the team. More on him below.
- And the teams starting 11 looked like this:

———Angel——Agudelo——
Borman–Lindpere-Tchani-Richards
Miller—–Petke—–Boyens—Hall
————Coundoul————-

Having the team as near to complete as they have had all season, it is nice to finally see the pieces falling into place. According to the reports off of the RBNY Twitter feed, the midfield played a fluid game enabling the forwards to generate some offense. Juan Pablo Angel connected with Agudelo early for the second tally of the game. Agudelo returned the favor for the fourth goal just before the half. The third tally came off of a Joel Lindpere chipped service that found Juan Pablo for his second goal of the match.

By the way, the first goal was an own goal by some nervous kid in a USMNT kit.

The second half featured the return of my favorite Aussie, Caleb Patterson-Sewell, commanding the backline and the debut of Maynor Suazo. Here is the second half lineup:

—-Chinn-Agudelo——
da Luz-Oebster-Suazo-Garcia
Borman-Stammler-Ream-Hall
——-Patterson——-

Agudelo continued ripping the pitch apart, taking the ball from an u-17 defender and finding the back of the net for his second of the game. He finished off the game with two goals and an assist. Chinn finalized the scoring for New York off of a da Luz feed for the final score 6-0. And Caleb? Lights out as always.

These u-17 kids are going to need some serious comforting from mommy and daddy tonight. But while they lick their wounds, the Bulls preseason wrecking ball continues to roll! Share your thoughts on the game, the plethora of debuts, or the dangers of allowing young kids to play against professional athletes below.
