RED BULLS HEADLINES: (and other things I missed)

JOZY CREATES PROBLEMS v. SWEDEN

An excellent follow up performance by Jozy against Sweden. As many of you know, he drew the crucial penalty leading to Donovans PK record breaking goal. Aside from that highlight, Jozy was causing fits on the defensive end. At this age, and some weigth training to boot, Jozy could be a true bulldozing forward in the mold of a Didier Drogba or Anelka (now if he can actually BE that good is another story . . . but he has the make up, from instincts to his actual size, for success).

AND THE STRATEGY IS . . . .

Osorio was recently asked about his strategy for the 2008 season. Surprisingly, he stated that the Bulls would go 3-5-2 at Home, 4-4-2 on the Road . . . whatever the situation dictates.

Very interesting stuff. For one thing, it will make Claudio Reyna more comfortable in his traditional destroyer role. On the other hand, our back three will leave little room for a wing style defender like HUNTER FREEMAN to play his game capabley. Trade bait perhaps?

Lets say the season started today. Lets assume Brunner is ready to start this season. This is what it would look like . . . .

————-Altidore—Angel————-
—————?????????????————-
—————-(liguera?)—————–
DVB—————————–RICHARDS
————-Kovalenko-Reyna————-
——-BRUNNER—PARKE—STAMMLER—–
—————————(or mendes or freeman)
—————CONWAY——————-

Its really quite a solid lineup. Gets you all giddy inside waiting for the ball to drop!

NAMAZI to RBNY = DEAD

MISL Ironmen coach Namazi was linked weeks ago to an RBNY move. I never reported on it, since I figured it would never come through. Well, silence has followed the initial rumors and now it seems the reports are all but dead. The Ironmen are doing suprisingly well in MISL, and perhaps the “step up” towards the MLS was not monetarily worth it. Who knows. But dont expect Namazi on our sidelines next season . . .

RED BULL ACADEMY = FREE

Taking yet another leap ahead of the competition, Red Bulls are once again forging the model for the rest of the league in regards to their youth development academys. Academys will now be offered free of charge to the developmental talent, following much of the worlds standard practice. This will enable inner city youth, shut out from the pitch for years because they are not monetarily enabled for it, to showcase their talents along side the rest of the players.

Sometimes a bit of hunger can infuse a different attitude amongst youth players as a whole. This is nothing but a positive step forward.

You have to hand it to RBNY . . . . though so many opposed their ownership, they have really pumped money and resources to their footie operations. Stadium, player academy, DP’s . . . . you name it. Just another great move on a growing list.

DP RUMOR D’JOUR = Martin Liguera

Martin Liguera is not exactly the name I was clammering for (The Scum already signed THAT guy), but he aint chop liver either! He has been captain for the Uruguayan team, is a CAM, which mind you, we will need, especially if we go 3-5-2 . . .

And lets not forget – Uruguay is capable of producing some major league players. Long ago, it was Uruguay that ruled the South American Football world. And I wont profess to know squat about him, but from what my Uruguayan counterparts tell me, he would be a hell of a pick up.

My favorite part of the whole deal? He is only 27. PRIME age. NOT over the hill. And in a perfect strategy for a CAM to shine. If there is validity to it, I am hoping it happens soon.

ENJOY:

JARROD LAVENTURE = INTERNATIONAL

Congrats to Laventure, who has been capped to play for the Haitian national team. They have two friendlies coming up for them, and we will let you know how our man does!

THE BOROUGH BOYS?!

Ok, I have to shed light on this.

Go to This Link. Now.

Its seems that a group of football fanatics in the NYC area are looking to put together a group effort to bring a second New York sports team to the area . . . .

Not a bad idea.

My suggestion?

Get better HTML.

And a much better shield. (let the jokes about our energy drink jerseys begin . . . now.)
