Rojas, Pietravallo Signings To Be Announced Today!
By: Dave Martinez | July 1st, 2008
Venezuelan Captain Jorge Rojas and Argentine defender / midfielder Juan Pietravallo will be announced as the newest Red Bulls come today, so says Big Apple Soccer (GREAT work boys).
An Argie? A Red Bull? Ill be the first one on line for that name on my jersey. Better do well . . .
Anyway, this is exciting stuff! The Bulls are listing the 5′9″ Argentine as a defender, but he has been known to play some defensive midfield. Rojas is practically secured as the new CAM (which would fill our attacking needs in a major way). And a pending Gabriel Cichero signing would be just what the doctor ordered - a syrum for the common mediocre season.
Its as if my prayers had been answered. From the day of Jozy’s departure, its been my mantra - We need three impactful signings for all three sections of the field.
Booyakasha.
Though Pietravallo is still an unknown quantity to me, the three signings in general fill needs this team desperately has to fill. Osorio is really using that Colombian charm to bring us some talent (bravo - if all three are signed, I will forget the offseason ever happened!) Much props.
Again, is this enough? What are your thoughts?

Awesome!!! Just what the doctor ordered.
Ive been praying to get some south american blood brought in. It just doesn’t make sense not to with the talent base, the comparative strength of the dollar and the local latin fanbase.
i mean they cant all stay at home or play in europe!
So we got an Arge defender. a 5-9 one. humm. still Cannavaro isnt much taller and hes probably the best defensive player in the world. ill give danny devito here the benifit of the doubt.
Any clue where hes been playing?
nevermind. his wiki page marks him quite the journeyman. Velez, Gymnasiz de la plata, spain. greece. and yes his wiki page list his current posting for the Red Bulls of NY!!!
wow, quickipedia!
awesome. Hope he doesnt suck!

Still a bit underwhelmed, but finally an Argentine! Dale!

Rojas is really a solid addition folks. Cichero and the Argie (yay!) are rather unknown commodities. But chin up! I havent really seen an Osorio discovery flop yet.

I’m always wary of short defenders, but really any little bit helps, and I only think we’re a few lucky breaks away from being a top XI.

If nothing else, new players will bring new energy and strategies. Or, it could all be a horrendous trainwreck. Hope these guys have some experience playing on turf - if they’re all out on disc-and-hamstring injuries in a month, these blog-comment pages are gonna be a pretty fun read. Can people even remember at this point that Angel used to play on our team? Let alone…that other guy.

I dont think anyone outside of the US has to contend with turf the way we do. So Ixnay to that.
And I find it funny, Mike, how people have forgotten that the Bulls still have the best striker in this league. You are absolutely right.
And now, while he recovers from his injuries, he can feel encouragement in the squad for the first time all season with some quality signings. This can be the turn around the team needs and the encouragement Angel has been looking for.
Still sucks we are out of the US Open. But what can you do . . .

I told ya, youd be happy!…*Vamos Argentina, esta noche, tenemos a ganar!*…He can be our, Pablo Maestroeni, at 5. 9, no problem! I think JCO is much more capable, and brighter at decision making in a hostile environment, lol, than most people realise, time will serve him well…now if we could just sign that talented forward I know, my life would be complete!!!

I think that forward has the initials ADP?
Kind of fitting - brings in the money.
Martha, I HOPE he is an eighth as capable as Mastro is (another Argie!). And I tend to agree with you - Osorio has a plan. Lets just see where it takes us.

Wrong! ADP is actually an offensive mid, while I would be salavating over that…I know a great So. American delantero whom plays like an Italian, with a little Cristiano Ronaldo and Romario thrown in, for good measure!

what name are you thinking?

I am sure JCO, in all his infinite wisdom, is on top of it…Lets just leave something to the element of suprise and delight, lol!
