Rumors of Frenchmen Abound
By: Martha | February 6th, 2007
In a post on his blog this morning, the frighteningly well-informed Ives Galarcep gave surprising credence to the paper-thin rumors about a possible future move by Theirry “melon énorme” Henry to MLS, specifically to New York. According to Galarcep, such a move wouldn’t happen for a few years yet (what with Henry still being wildly productive at the highest level and all), but he feels Henry is definitely interested in coming to the US: “Sources told [Galarcep] a year ago that of [Youri] Djorkaeff’s friends, Henry was one of the more intrigued by MLS. He travels to New York regularly and has the type of personality that could make him a crossover star.” Well! That’s a tantalizing tidbit, even if it makes me twitch a little to imagine cheering for Henry: No matter what you think of him, the man is incredibly talented and, even three or four years from now, could bring some much-needed silky magic — not to mention a touch of glamor — to our attack force.
In other, far more dubious Frenchman news, a poster on Big Soccer swears his buddy who works with VIPs at Newark just saw Zizou himself roll off in a limo, headed for NYC. According to the report, Zidane said he was in the city for two days “on business.” Let the wild speculation begin!
