The Highest Highs, The Lowest Lows
By: Dave Martinez | July 2nd, 2008
There we were, watching the Bulls masterfully control the tempo of the game, on the road, against a dangerous Chivas squad. Before you can say “here we go again,” Kevin Goldthwaite sends a pass somewhere in Conways vicinity, only to have Metro Killer Razov remind us why he is who he is, stuffing a goal past our keeper.
Mere hours later, word comes out of Venezuela that Jorge Rojas has signed with the Red Bulls.
Talk about an immediate band aid. The Rojas talk made Goldthwaites gaff a mere passing thought, as if it never happened.
Then, noting how well this strategy went the first time, history repeated itself. The hardcore faithful traveled to Maryland, stole satellite signals, acquired illegal broadcasts – whatever it took to watch the Red Bulls face a minor league, meager, USL2 Crystal Palace side. And with a man advantage for over 50 minutes, the Bulls bench riders could not find the back of the net.
And just as all was thought lost, we get word of two signing announcements (Rojas and the Argie) for Wednesday, as well as a signing to come for next week in the form of Cichero.
By no means am I saying this is really the front office strategy for the team, but its as if the Red Bulls are covering up their poor play with front office magic. It really makes one wonder – what other debacle can be covered up by some creative front office maneuvering?
“The Bulls lose a friendly match to The Lady Riders of Long Island 4 – 0. But no worries. They signed Thierry Henry!”
Hey, it follows the formula. You never know.

Niceeeee. All we need to worry about is MLS games. When can these guys play. Dave?

The Galaxy game. But lets face it – to throw three guys in at once would be a chemistry killing hell hole. I would say Rojas would debut by the 19th, possibly along with the Argie. I couldnt imagine a 3 player debut on the same day.

Those Lady Riders are in second place in their Division right now so maybe you’re right to worry, Dave (kidding!).

Much respect to the Riders Mel! Seriously – they would give us issues if we trot out the bench again.

Minor league, I’ll give you. Meager? Piss off. They would beat your first team, too.
