Look, a Ferrari — On the Field! (Thank you, I’ll be here all week. Try the steak!)

While on this side of the pond, we were finding out about that whole long-term training facility thing, 18-year-old former RBNY developmental player Gabriel Ferrari was once again on the bench for a Sampdoria game.
Though he was signed to the team’s youth squad, he became a regular on the bench for senior games almost immediately after arriving in Italy last month. Today, however, was a different story: He. Played. No lie! It’s right here, in black and white: Ferrari came on at striker for Emiliano Bonazzoli in the 82nd minute of Samp’s Coppa Italia semifinal match with Inter Milan.
Granted, it was “only a cup game,” and Ferrari squandered his chance for a triumphant debut by not scoring a spectacular winning goal (the game ended 0-0), but from a youth training system in the States to playing with the first team in Italy is pretty damn impressive. Even if we do all wish he was still here.
