Zidane is Coming, Zidane is Coming! (Hey, We Can Still Dream, Right?)

I'm totally making this up, but still -- imagine, Craig Bellamy, Red Bull.Forgive my small trip into fantasy land here, it’s just that Ives Galarcep reported yesterday that Bruce Arena strongly hinted RBNY will use their second DP spot this season, and that a new signing (”likely” to be a DP) will be revealed within in the next Two weeks. How do you like them apples?

Despite the fact that it’s very, very unlikely (Ives places the odds at 50-1) Zidane is coming, it’s impossible not to let him sneak into your thoughts while trying to figure out who the hell Arena is going to bring in. Man. How great would that be? No, never mind. I’m not going to think about it, because letting myself get excited about the (very, very) slight possibility is just a recipe for suicidal depression when it doesn’t happen.

So, logic. Logic suggests an impending signing might mean things have finally been worked out with the long-discussed Tin Delgado, but that rumor has gone awfully quite over the past few weeks, so it’s hard to know if he’s even still a going concern. On another front, the Revs are supposedly ready to make a bid for Robbie Fowler — maybe Arena’s secretly considering his very own pain-in-the-ass striker from the UK? I hear Craig Bellamy’s available — as long as Arena hides the golf clubs, things would probably be ok. Right? Hey, goals is goals!
