Bulls Abroad : Jozy Altidore
By: Dave Martinez | August 28th, 2008
The dawn of the La Liga season is upon us, and the Yellow Submarine of Villarreal is pulling up to Osasuna’s dock, with a couple of dents in its mighty fascade.
Midfielder Robert Pires is out, a heavy blow for the Spanish side. But to make matters worse, their attacking duo of Rossi and Kahveci are also expected to be sidelined. In Rossi’s case, sidelined for two games with an injured ankle.
Rossi? Injured? AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Isn’t that just the worst news ever? A rolled ankle, that may have him missing the first two games? AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Where is my friggin violin?
Anyway, in light of the good tidings surrounding Rossi, things have looked up for our boy Jozy. With their two primary strikers riding the bench, Jozy may actually start the first game of Villarreals season. A game like this can mean big things for our young striker. A good couple of performances can mean more pitch time as the season unfolds. The question is - will Jozy be ready for some of the best competition in the world? Share your thoughts.

Hey, a couple of goals in his 1-2 chances coming can mean alot! Rossi earned his way in to the starting lineup by practically doing the same thing. I hope Jozy impresses!

Agreed- plus I think a little confidence goes a long way in a young player.

who the hell is leading the MLS? Are they forcing mediocrity and boredom on what could be potentially their biggest market?
I hate the rules and practices of this league. SO far Ive seen nothing but fear and bureaucracy from MLS.
As far as Jozy goes I think he will succeed mightily. hes got the poise, maturity and presence of a much older player. He wont wilt, he’ll thrive

Here is a video interview with Jozy. He is speaking in English but the Spanish translator basically overpowers. Figured some would want to see it anyway. http://watchsocceronline.blogspot.com/2008/08/jozy-altidore-video-interview-at.html
