NJSEA Gorillas. Not Cool.

By: Dave Martinez | June 9th, 2008

Before anyone asks, all day today will be Argentina / USA posts.

And thanks to those already sending me pics. Very cool stuff. KEEP SENDING ME VIDS AND PICS!

Credit goes to Dave “Disco” Berger for this find – the brutal 500 lb gorillas of NJSEA were summoned to tackle the living hell out of a little kid who took a run on the pitch nearing the end of halftime and evaded those big bodied bullies. Then they tackle him like he is flippin Barry Sanders. Disgusting.

Are they just doing their job or did they cross the line? You be the judge . . .

Wish they put as much energy into figuring out the stadium exit traffic as they did into tackling pre-adolesecents

and tim howard . . . wow. lofty company.

Still can't find anything w/ Don't Tread On Me on it. I do have a sweet new background though. I'll probably just buy the home kit.
  • BMatt
Dave, you're my new man crush....you're up there with Tim Howard now

Enjoy Buddy. The best soccer line they have. I love the Dont Tread jersey with the sash and old logo
  • BMatt
Also, I know that this is probably the wrong thread, but I REALLY like that US Soccer Don't Tread On Me logo. Does anybody know where I could find that on a shirt/poster/scarf/blanket/throw pillow/duvet cover/tuxedo?

Actually I can't find decent US Soccer stuff anywhere.
  • thats my point all in one. well done my friend!
  • BMatt
Thats true- but think about it...those guys PROBABLY aren't soccer fans. They're bored and confused...they saw something they could hit.

    That said...yeah..they're assholes
  • lol bmatt - again, I am not condoning the running on the field. Its just a little restraint would have been in order. They hit an 11 year old kid with a tackle meant for Rugby.

The kid STILL got what he deserved for running out there. But the yellow shirts get way too carried away with the over excessive violence. And thats taking into consideration that the video doesnt show him getting his arms heavy handedly restrained.
  • BMatt
Dave- I wouldn't expect stuff at Harrison to change much. The streamers/flairs will probably be allowed but if you charge the field expect to be upended by a guy you hated in High School
  • We were all ready & down for it incase it happened.
  • Tommy - after that rain? It would have been a swarm!
  • I'll be honest though, if the US scored anywhere near the 90th minute I was charging the field, along with everyone else.
  • Maybe the security guy has a tryout with the Giants...lolz!
  • lol Matt - excellent point. And the kid deserves whatever he is going to get, no question - but to tackle a kid like THAT - I mean, he was a feather weight nothing, running in the middle of the pitch, at halftime no less - had he gone towards the players, thats a different story. But that?

Restraint is a word best used in practice.
  • I have read about numerous incidents of heavy handedness with Giants Stadium security during Red Bulls games and I condemn all of that. The ESC and others are great groups, great singers, and I can just imagine what type of tifo they would come up with if allowed. However...

A fan has absolutely no business on the field. I don't care how old this kid is, if he's jumping on the field, he is in line for some big boy consequences. Don't want to get tackled? Don't jump on the field. Security has no idea what this kid has, what his intentions are, etc, no matter his age. You only need to look to the the fourteen year old boy and his father attacking a coach in Major League Baseball.
  • Thats NJSEA - no restraint. Cant wait for Harrison . . .
  • NoLayup Rule
bouncers and security goons live for these moments.

In part anyone who doesnt know that and set themselves up for this kind of reaction sorta deserves what they get.

In another very big way however these guys should be ashamed of themselves for acting like stormtroopers not humans.

ps. the Argentinean section was under constant security harassment too. seemed like every 5 mins there was something.

we all know terrorist can't attack things unless they are marked with flares.
  • anonymous
and if a terrorist wanted to attack us I'm sure it'd be a little more imaginative.
  • Sean wins line of the day.
  • Sean
Yea because if a terrorist wanted to attack us he would pick the MLS and not MLB.
  • Incredibly lame. I know people who have tossed streamers and gotten the boot. NJSEA knows nothing about soccer.
  • I dunno. The tackle looked pretty hard from that video, I remember seeing it from the other end, and it was just funny.

My buddy Patrick isn't allowed back at any of the MLS games for trying to smuggle a couple flares into the game. They said that it could be used for "terrorist purposes." Like marking a certain section for a bomb attack. How lame is that?
  • And before someone else says it, yes, that has to be the best tackle on New York surface since the Super Bowl.
