Oh Look, Trucks, Parked in a Vacant Lot!
By: Martha | March 12th, 2007
Given the choice between a ragtag crew of reserves and trialists in a match against Cal and the Construction! Of Red! Bull! Park!, which would you rather watch? Oh, don’t lie — I know you want to watch that magnificent, dedicated stadium rise out of the dirt more than a bunch of people we’re unlikely to see much of on the pitch this year. Except, well … The Great and Powerful Live Webcam of Red Bull Park? More boring that watching a Taylor Graham-captained side beat a college team could ever be. WAY more. Honestly, at this point I’m questioning if RBNY actually know the meaning of the word “construction,” because what I see is mostly a lot of parking.
That said, however, if you’d prefer to watch time-lapse (That’s right, it’s not even a video feed — it’s stills! Why, we could miss a pedestrian, if they can by between captures!) images of unmoving trucks and highway traffic than some slightly ragged football, make the brand new Red Bull Park site your homepage. I hope they at least a)light it at night so we can see any attempted hanky-panky by passers-by, and b)force any club personnel who visit the construction site to wear bright orange hunting vest, so we know someone important is in shot and can put that snazzy “zoom” feature to good use!

That is quite possibly the best headline I’ve read this year. Fantastic. Following the construction of a stadium online surely belongs on the dumb side of the Internet’s ledger.
