POLL: Alfredo Pacheco
By: Dave Martinez | September 15th, 2009Pacheco’s loan release has sparked alot of debate. Did the Red Bulls jump the gun releasing a young prospect? Or was this a Diego Jimenez situation all over again, with Pacheco playing the “See ya later” role?
You decide. Today’s poll asks: Did RBNY do the right thing releasing Pacheco?
Did the Red Bulls do the right thing in releasing Alfredo Pacheco from his loan?(poll)

I for one really saw a lot of talent in Pacheco but not a lot of brains.
For a defensive back he was exceptional at getting the ball forward and had one hell of a foot.
However for a defensive back he was exceptionally foolhardy when it came to marking his man or getting back on d.
IMO he was playing the wrong position. he should be a defensive midfielder. He can get more touches, use his strong defensive abilities and stay in the game without drifting off. He also wants to score more than anything so he might have more opportunity this way.
But apparently that ship has now sailed.
Are we stuck with his salary next year?

It was a one season loan with an option to buy. I bet we let him go a bit early because he wanted out and it only makes sense at this point to keep players who are fighting for a job.

After last nights game, I’d push Borman forward to left mid. Which means, without Pacheco, no left back.
Fullbacks, both left & right, have been undervalued in this team for years.
