BLACKBOARD FODDER?

======

Ladies and Gentlemen, Steve Nicol:

“The secret to the game is stopping the service.”

“We can dominate in the middle of the park and it will nullify their midfield. If we give them scraps, hopefully we can deal with that, which I am sure we can.”

“Best thing to happen to Altidore is playing aside Angel.”

“Angel knows all the tricks.”

“The field at Giant Stadium is not ideal for great soccer.”

“Its not a place you can go and play silky soccer.”

“If we can take care of the Dirty Jobs, we’re fine.”

“We play on an artificial surface (Gilette) which is the best in the Country”

=======================================================

Ha. My favorite quote is the silky soccer one.

He feels he can nullify our midfield. Thats nice. I want to see their answer for Dane Richards. And Freeman right behind em. And I am sure, Dema, Reyna, Vide, Mathis, Doe, Altidore and company would love to hear that!

This is going to be physical. Cant wait.

=======================================================

BTW, isnt the surface in NE grass? Or am I on crack here?

    As much as I like Dane Richards for his speed, he is technically not a great player. For every ten crosses he takes, seven are on the ground and easily cleared, two are mis-hit and go out of bounds and one actually goes in the air towards the goal. He, for me, is the weakness is the NYRB attack.

    You’re on crack. They play on FieldTurf which is as artificial as it sounds.

    Andrew is the one on crack. Dane has been a revelation. Do you really expect a rookie to be the “perfect player”? He’s a rookie, and he makes mistakes, just as everyone does. He had a little slump in the summer but he is back and terrorizing defenders again like he did earlier in the season. Without him, our attack wouldn’t have the width and speed that he provides, and he constantly gets behind the defense. Every left back dreads going up against him, and there’s a reason why that’s the case. He, IMO, is the Red Bulls’ Midfielder of the Year.

    he’s right though, RB’s midfield is crap. Who is there in the middle of the park that can distribute the ball and bring creativity to the run of play? Joe Vide? Seth Stammler? Come on…

    Ill gladly admit being on crack.

    Now we can move forward.

    Ya bastids.

    And Andrew - Dane is developing nicely, especially with the coaching on Angel. He isnt the Dane that New England remembers, even if it was 2-3 weeks ago. He has definitely impressed.

    And Mr. Baker - crap is going kind of far. Dane Richards is the speed on one wing, Mathis can be that wandering #10, or Altidore has proven he is adept to it. DVB at left full adds to the push.

    And our central mid consists of Reyna and Dema at its heart, and then you add the Stammies and Vides of the world.

    We arent as bad as you or Nicols think!
