All is Blissfully Quiet in Red Bull Land

JPA RBNot many RBNY happenings since the LA game, which is probably a good thing — at least we’re not having players retire and take the team over, or releasing people who cost us a DP spot. Really, I’d be quite happy if the whole season was this quiet.

The only news that’s fit to print so far is that, as we suspected, Hunter Freeman’s ankle won’t recover fast enough for him to play Sunday; the pre-game press release suggests Seth Stammler will take his place. Additionally, if there’s any question of Walrus’ health, Jon Conway will get another start in goal.

Oddly, the press notes for the match project a 4-5-1 system against Colorado, with Jozy alone up top and Mathis right behind him. Where’s Angel? Sitting on his ass on the bench, for some reason. Do you really think Bruce wouldn’t start him? It’s not as if there’s a question of fitness with him and, while he may be less Jamaican than Dane Richards, I can’t think of any other basis of comparison in which Dane comes out on top.

And, finally: If you’ve got a few minutes, Soccernet ran a short interview with JPA a few days ago. Not a lot of new info there, but he once again proves himself thoughtful and articulate, which is worth celebrating in any footballer.
