Bound To Happen: RBNY 0 – KC 1

Jorge Rojas is wearing the goat horns this week, as a costly and unexplainable turnover lead to the 17th loss of the season for the Red Bulls, and the first under the second Richie Williams era. Getting caught up field on a set piece and having to back track, Rojas twice helped the Wizards establish their attack; first on an errant header and then failing to catch a 37 year old Claudio “El Piojo” Lopez on a break. Piojos shot rebounded off of Coundoul and Wolff cleaned it up for the 1-0 lead. And like any good team, that was all the Wizards needed to cap off a well fought road win as they took a defensive stance the rest of the way.

After the game, a scuffle between Carlos Johnson and Michael Harrington resulted in another yellow for Johnson earning him – you guessed it – another red card suspension. Harrington wasn’t carded.

On the positive side, center back tandem Boyens and Krupnick, who initially seemed to be a slow and lumbering pair, proved effective as the middle anchors. Dane Richards continues to play strongly, and Matt Mbuta also had a decent performance. But with Angel out of the lineup for this game with an injury, they could not afford to go down a goal so early the way they did. And that ultimately sealed it.
