Enar Jaager To Sign With Norwegian Club Aalesunds

By: Dave Martinez | March 5th, 2010

enarThe Red Bulls pursuit for a right back continues as Enar Jaager has signed with his former club Aalesunds of the Norwegian league, according to Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten His signing is pending the results of a medical physical.

Aalesunds coach Kjetil Rekdal was quoted in the report as saying,”If it’s true, it is good news for us. Enar was among the elite series’ best right-backs last year.” I am sure Hans Backe would agree. The news was reportedly received well by the rest of the squad, who are anticipating big things from the Estonian international. “Enar was a gun player for us, both on and off the field, “AaFK captain Johan Arneng told Afterposten.

Backe recently spoke to the Post about Enar Jaager and his desire to sign him.

“We will make him an offer, but he can turn it down; and then we of course are losing time now for the first game. We have played Luke Sassano as a right fullback, and he will train in a fullback position.” – New York Post

Surely this will cause late unrest with the season just around the corner. As currently constituted, Chris Albright remains a huge question mark at the right spot, and Luke Sassano, a natural right back, assumes the #1 spot in a shallow depth pool.

Hans Backe didn't give up on Jagaar just yet.. Maybe we'll be more sure who will be at right back by the end of this week.. http://www.tribalfootball.com/...

http://webtv.tv2.no/webtv/main... Jaager says the reason he choosed Aalesund is that Aalesund had the best offer.

Do the NYRB think that players will play for nicles?

I think it's good news. Sassano and Hall have tons of potentiol and I'd hate to see them get cut just because this guy was European. I'm also totally aginst any efforts to get rid of Danleigh Borman. Dane Richards though... I think he would be great off the bench. Kind of what Houston does with Corey Ashe.

i hope they sign frederic jonson in jaager's place, because hall deserves to be playing on the wing. sassano is bench relief at best.

So...unless there is a last minute "signing", it's Luke or Hall at RB. Can live with it.
  • They did sign Lindpere today! (officially) -
