The Absolute WORST Interview Ever, Starring Good Day NY and Thierry Henry

By: Dave Martinez | July 21st, 2010

I have been debating posting this hunk of garbage on the site for the past two days. I came to the conclusion that I can not be the only one who suffers witnessing this calamity.

You can thank me later.

Brace yourselves for soccer ignorance, at it’s highest level. And kudos to Thierry Henry for not punching someone in the face.

Actually I didn't think it was that bad. After the first minute when the woman was talking it was bloody horrid. She did screw up a lot of the interview and blatantly had no idea what she's talking about. The guy was a lot better and it was very interesting to hear Henry speak on the situation of racism here in the US vs. Europe. It is very true that racism is must less explicit here than in Europe. As many problems with racism we do have, things get really nasty in Europe. Especially in Football the racist chanting among fans at the game is widespread. You wouldn't shout the same thing at a professional game here - you would probably be asked to leave, or get your ass beaten.

Poor Thierry. The Irish may hate you but Arsenal still love you. Henry played in a 5-4 victory over Spurs that was a great game.
  • This is really hard to watch. It's amazing how the people at Fox thought it would be a good idea to show the infamous 'Hand of Frog' incident while interviewing the man. Although being Irish I hope he watches the show afterwards and is reminded of the fact that he is a cheating ****.

Fox should publicly issue an apology. How would those reporters like to be interviewed about their job and be bamboozooled like that with stupid, really stupid questions and they were serious too. Why didn't they have a sports personality conduct the interview. Anyway, only a certain type of person watches Fox News, thus the reason I was not aware of it until now. No talent bastards should have been bending over for Henry just to even spend 10 seconds at that dump.

Dave, you seriously cannot be knocking this! If soccer is ever going to gain popularity in the US we need as much mainstream coverage as possible and Fox is the pinnacle of that. They covered all of their bases touching on his WC win - albeit 12 years ago, they discussed the vuvuzelas, the "Bronx Cheer, rascism; it was quite compelling. I'm very surprised at you David, ripping your fellow journalists like that!

i too got to where they said "so you just won the world cup..." and had to stop watching. what morons. how incredibly embarassing.
  • They even basically ask "Red Bull is the New York team . . . right?"

    CRINGE!

DAMN!!! its sad how they knew nothing about the team , about Thierry Henry or just about soccer MAN SO SAD !!!
  • I got 50 seconds in. AAAAAHHHHHHH!! "So you just won the World Cup..."
  • Patrick MacDonald
That was painful. The interviewers were so bad I'm amazed they didn't ask where France was located.

It is too hard to watch; even more uncomofrtable than watching a Lukas Moodysson film.

I seriously hope somebody at RBNY is telling him: "Really, it's not like this here. This is just Fox."
  • JFC, it's because he's joining NYRB halfway through this season. I assume.
  • JFC
Please Please Please don't let any other footballers see this interview, it might scare them away and what kinda contract is 4 and a half years? like mid-way thru the season hes gonna retire?
  • This is equally hilarious and embarrassing.
