Yeah 6+5 is EVEN WORSE for our National team, imagine in Dempsey, Adu and Alitdore could only play in the MLS/LHUSOC (you know what that is...hint: RBNY just got bounced) and MAYBE Superliga instead of the EPL/Champions League

Oh yea, and there has been quite the outcry. It is in the process of being enforced. Currently, its still a free for all.

But think about it. 6 players would have to be American out of the 11 fielded. For a growing league like MLS, its better to bring in more quality oversea vets than it is to saturate the league with American youngins (because you know that is what would happen).

I despise the rule. Its dumb. It would kill our growing leagues progress. There have to be stipulations.

thats repulsive.

do I understand correctly? 6 of the 11 players have to be eligible to play for the national team?

But clearly this rule is not enforced at all. Italy for example. England too. Inter and Roma are both majority international, I believe. Certainly Inter.

This reminds me of when Mussolini tried to make calcio completely Italian. Sicking

Well - why would that same governing body eliminate participation in areas of high altitudes?

Its all ridiculous.

Here is the equation - league in its maturity, it can work. A league in growth, and its stifling.

Look at how Becks has improved Donovans game. Look at Schelottos impact on a young Crew Squad. Look at Emilio, Fred, Gallardo and the other imports in DC showing the Americans how to do it. Or the myriad of imports on the TFC squad. Americans can benefit from that kind of presence on their squad. Any player in any growing league would.

The way I look at the 6+5 is that its GREAT for countries that are net exporters of talent (France...maybe Spain...maybe Italy) and HORRIBLE for net importers (England, Scotland and USA) and WORSE for small leagues (MLS, SPL). So why implement a rule that would only help Large leagues in some countries and possibly stifle the smaller leagues even farther.

I am so not for the 6+5. Not for this growing league. It simply can not afford to go in that direction.

Why must everything be so all encompassing? They should make exceptions in 6+5, especially for smaller, growing leagues.

btw - I agree - many players will be inspired to play harder. But does an ultimatum HAVE to be the way to awaken your players? Shouldnt the starting opportunity have been enough? Food for thought.

Thats true Dave, but it could also have the opposite effect. Knowing that they're places aren't safe might inspire some.

Also: think about the damage the 6+5 would do to the MLS
